Common questions
Why isn’t my phone in the ranking?
It hasn’t collected enough yet. A model needs at least 5 sessions for each measure, plus 2 hours of screen-on time, 8 hours of screen-off time and 15 minutes of charging in total.
Regional versions often have different model codes and are listed separately. Yours is under Settings, About phone.
Why are there no iPhones?
The measurements come from Android apps. iPhones don’t let apps read the battery in enough detail. A model under the maker name “iphone” is an Android device that reports that name.
Is a session the same as a phone, or a person?
No. A session is one stretch of use, rest or charging, and one phone produces several a day. Read the count as “how much evidence”, not “how many owners”.
Does a bigger battery always win?
No. Rates are in percentage points per hour, so a bigger battery gets credit for losing fewer points. A power-hungry phone can still lose to a smaller, frugal one.
Why does charging look slow?
It’s pooled across real use: slow top-ups near full, charging with the screen on, and whatever charger was nearby. It isn’t the best case on the box.
Are the hours real measurements?
The rates are measured. The hours are straight-line estimates from those rates, so read every “≈” as “about”.
Why did a phone’s rank change overnight?
Scores are relative. A newcomer near the top moves everyone below it down, and new sessions shift a model’s own rates a little.
Can I trust a model with only a few sessions?
Less than one with many. There are no error bars; every phone page shows the sessions behind each measure.
Who chose the weights?
They’re fixed and the same for every model: screen on 60%, screen off 25%, charging 15%. See the blend.
Can a manufacturer pay to rank higher?
No. No step lets a person set or edit a score. Today’s number one, motorola edge 60, got there like every other model.
How often is it updated?
Daily. A new ranking is published at 00:15 UTC and appears here within about two hours. Every page footer shows its date.
How do I take part?
Install Battery Zen on an Android phone and turn on sharing on its ranking screen. You can turn it off again at any time.
Can I use the numbers in an article or a video?
Yes. Name Battery Ranking, link the page and give the ranking’s date. For more than a few phones, ask first.
